When designing the 1st Collection for Not Available, we wanted to design something that was influenced by the past and also the future. In the fashion industry, every company looked to locations (street boutique and higher end locations) to debut, carry and help the brands brake thru to the masses before the Internet consumed society.
Fast forward to the Internet age, more brands are popping up, not worrying about locations selling their companies, and embracing the DIY mentality and winning and becoming more sought after in the process.
When designing the "Closing Ceremony" tee, that was the idea behind it. Taking such a sought after high end retailer, flipping it, and sending that's message that they're not needed for a brand to succeed. Just a little insight to Not Available.
